We said it already knows.
And now it knows better. Proven worthy time and again at rampage, reconfigured to fit the bill as zero-hesitation go-to for whatever your pleasure. Un-rack it for all the park laps, pedal it on character-building epics, push it up spooky steep darksides “nobody” knows about. Whatever the question, unhard your decisions. You ask. It gives. Decide for the freedom of never being under-biked. Of pedaling to legendary trails that can’t be reached otherwise. Of never wondering if the bike can handle whatever you come across. As long as you can.
Get to the Gravity.
Sometimes the best zones are pedal access only. But trading long-travel capability to get there quickly? Uh, no thanks. The SB165 geo approach was about delivering a rig that rips and rails, but more importantly delivers when it’s big. And beyond big. How? Shorter chain stays put the forward bias a bit more on the back wheel to balance and exploit the benefits of mixed wheels. Steep seat tube and slack head tube? Check.
Balanced in the Turns.
Predictable when drifting, minimizing the need to use the brakes when changing direction.
Aggressive Weight Bias.
Longer wheelbase for balances weight distribution even when aggressive postures put you over the front wheel.
Slack without the Flop.
63.5° headtube gives stability in the rough and steep, 44mm fork-offset reduces wheel flop when climbing.
Discover the next-generation of translating-pivot suspension designs. Setting new expectations for kinematics, longevity, sensitivity, and strength
Custom Coil Kinematics.
Progressive suspension kinematics tuned specifically for a coil shock give incredible small bump sensitivity and proper bottom out support. Team input and race intelligence leveraged for a shock tune that maximizes Switch Infinity and remains active, lively, and ready for the inevitable “oh shit” hits.
Hello New School.
A refined main frame and swingarm silhouette that does more than just look sweet. It packages Switch Infinity and its linkage in a tighter, more efficient space, for added impact and ground clearance, along with increased holistic chassis stiffness.
Consistency No Matter the Size.
To give each size of the SB165 the same torsional stiffness, each frame has its own carbon layup. This is extra important for the SB165, due to the kind of aggressive riding it will encounter. We simply can’t afford to let flex affect suspension components with binding, premature wear, or small bump sensitivity reduction. And it’s vital to give every rider the same frame feel, regardless of frame size.
Speed Metal.
What good are proprietary bearings (AKA “impossible to find”) when it comes time to replace? Our designs use standard-sized bearings secured with precision-machined floating collet axles. Replacement is also made easier with all bearings pressed into the linkage assembly itself instead of the swingarm or front triangle.
Leverage Rate. 22% Progressivity.
Still the most progressive rate in our lineup, with a refined curve for mid-stroke composure when slashing turns, loading the bike for more versatility on more terrain.
Cable Management.
Internally routed cable tubes with secure closures at entry and exit points eliminate rattles and rub. Whether running a mechanical drivetrain and dropper or a wireless setup, cable management is intuitive, easy, and quiet.
Compact Switch Case.
We minimized the frame structure surrounding Switch Infinity to boost frame stiffness, reduce weight, increase ground clearance, and leave more room for hydration
Threaded BB.
Threaded aluminum bottom bracket shell with integrated ISCG-05 tabs. This critical drivetrain interface is now more durable, cleaner, and easier to service.
Patented Wishbone.
Patented, two-piece shock wishbone optimizes leverage rate while moving the shock forward in the frame. This positioning allows for a greater range of shock compatibility, decreases stand-over height, reduces shock tab sizes, increases water bottle compatibility, and boosts downtube clearance. Also makes shock removal quick and easy.
