The Shimano XTR M9100 Pedal was engineered with stability and precision in mind. Increasing the edge to edge contact area allows for a greater shoe to pedal interface. While still keeping the pedal light weight they were able to increase your feel and confidence on the bike letting you go faster with confidence.
