The Black Diamond Deploy 3 shovel features rapid deployment & a trapezoidal shaft that locks into place with a quick pull. When time is of essence, you need not waste time with shovel assembly when you use the Deploy. When the digging is done, and it is time to store your shove, the curved handle slides down, hugging the contours of the blade to take up minimal space in your pack.
